Ex libris is a charming Latin expression meaning "from my books" or "belonging to my books."

That tells you how important it is, because it turns a book into your book. It becomes your property and carries your personal mark.

Over time, the ex libris evolved.

What began as a simple label bearing a name became a true signature. Some people decorated theirs with their family colours. Others added animals, symbols or coats of arms. It even became a collector's item for book lovers.

So there was no way my grimoire could be without one!

My Arcadia grimoire is probably the most precious object I own today. It has accompanied me through months of drawing, research and creation. It needed an ex libris that reflected not only what it is, but also what it represents.

Our ex libris gradually became a symbol of Arcadia, the world that comes to life through Maud's stories and my illustrations.

Page after page, story after story, illustration after illustration, our grimoire became the guardian of this imaginary world. So what could be more natural than giving it an ex libris of its own?

Today, I would like to share it with you.

You can write your name in the centre and colour it to create the very first personal touch in your own grimoire.

Before you download it, there is one little thing you should know.

A line is never perfectly flawless, especially when it is drawn by hand. That is the case with this illustration, created with a dip pen and India ink, just as artists did in the old days! That is what makes this ex libris unique and special.
